In
the few weeks since our last update, there's been plenty of
big Prairie Soul news. Most importantly, we're pleased to
announce the addition of our new bass player, Greg "Iggie"
Tiemann. Iggie and Rick, Prairie Soul's new dobro player,
worked together in the Smokehouse All-Stars, one of
the area's most successful and celebrated regional bluegrass
bands of the nineties. A monster player of "anything
with strings on it," Iggie brings an intuitive musicality
and rhythmic drive to PS that have tightened up and added
some fire to our sound.
At
2:00 on Sunday, July 18, we'll be taking the stage with Iggie
for the first time at Chandler
Hill Vineyards, which ranks among the most beautiful wineries
in the region and among our all-time favorite outdoor venues.
We'd love for you to enjoy the scenic drive out to Defiance
and share what promises to be a very special afternoon with
us.
Friday,
August 6 will mark another first for Prairie Soul: We'll be
playing at the Wine
Press, at 4436 Olive, in the revitalized Gaslight
Square district. The Wine Press boasts an impressive
list of wine, beer and spirits as well as inventive appetizers,
entrees and desserts. The atmosphere is classy but casual
and makes the Wine Press the ideal spot to relax on a Friday
evening and catch a few tunes by the new Prairie Soul lineup.
We'll get started at 8:00, and we hope to see old and new
fans in the crowd. With your support, we'd like to make this
the first of many engagements at this unique venue.
But
before our debut at the Wine Press, Prairie Soul will be in
familiar surroundings at Thurman
Grill and Provisions in the Tower Grove neighborhood on
Saturday, July 24 from 8 til 11. Come hang out with us and
the great crowd at Thurman for a few drinks and a few
sets of old PS favorites and new tunes, too.
For
now, that's all the news that's fit to print. Watch this website
for updates on our demo, which we hope to record in the next
few months!
