How
do we know the summer gig season has begun? Because the first
official "road gig" of the year is upon us!
This
Saturday, the 13th, Prairie Soul packs up and heads to Grafton,
Illinois for an all-afternoon show at the beautiful Piasa
Winery. We'll be playing from 2 to 6 p.m., so there's
plenty of time for you to make the trip and catch a few tunes,
sample a few of Illinois's fabulous wines and enjoy the spectacular
view of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers.
And
if you can't make it Saturday, there's no need to panic-there
will be outdoor gigs a plenty as the season continues: Our
friends at the Ferguson Farmers' Market have invited us
to play at the lively open-air event in North County on Saturday,
July 18 at 9 a.m., and the very next day we'll hit the road
again for an afternoon gig at Chandler Hill Vineyards in
Defiance. So whether it's fresh, homegrown produce that
strikes your fancy, or a leisurely afternoon of wine and sunshine,
it's time to make Prairie Soul a part of your plans! On Sunday,
August 9, our adventures on the winery circuit will continue
as we play at Labadie Grapevines in Labadie, MO (about
20 miles southwest of Chesterfield, for those of you who haven't
made the trip.)
Along
the way we'll be debuting even more new songs from
artists as diverse as Dan Hicks, Guy Clark, Dolly Parton,
and Sam Bush.
There's
no better setting than the great outdoors for Prairie Soul's
brand of American acoustic music, so we hope you'll hit the
road with us! Bring along some friends and make sure this
summer is one you won't forget!
Between
gigs, we're trying to make a little time for vacationing,
too. Ben will be keeping his chops up at the 2009 Mark
O'Connor Fiddle Camp in Burns, TN, and each of us is looking
forward to camping, fishing and all manner of outdoor fun
in the coming weeks and months. Here's hoping your summer's
as much fun as ours!
