was iffy a few times through the afternoon, but on the
whole it was a beautiful day.

After
a month off the gigging circuit, Prairie Soul is hitting the
road this weekend for two scenic outdoor gigs: Saturday the
18th will see us take the stage at the Ferguson Farmer's
Market at 9 a.m., and on Sunday, we'll play from 1 to
4 p.m. at the lovely Chandler Hill Vineyards in Defiance.
The forecast looks great for both days, calling for just a
few clouds and highs in the 70s, so that's one more reason
to come on out and catch some Prairie Soul tunes.
And
speaking of tunes, we're particularly excited about a couple
of new ones we've added over the last few weeks. As usual,
you can count on a few surprises when it comes to our repertoire.
For
even more variety, check out Rich and Ben's new project
at CooperElla Café in Maplewood on Friday, July 24.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., the duo will perform a mix of jazz standards,
bluegrass, hits from the 70s, and even a few originals - all
with the familiar acoustic instrumentation and vocal harmony
that play such a large part in the Prairie Soul sound. Check
this website for other dates too!
While
you're penciling in future gigs, don't forget to plan a trip
to Labadie Grapevines in Labadie, MO, on Sunday, August
9 for Prairie Soul's first-ever gig there. From 1 to 4 p.m.,
we'll set the music for a casual afternoon of wine and good
times.
As
the summer rolls on, our calendar's filling up, so now's the
time to contact us if you're looking to book Prairie Soul
for fall shows. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like
to have us play at your public or private event, if you're
interested in having a copy of our demo, or if you just want
to say hi!
Last
but not least, we are thrilled to announce a gig with our
friends, Salt of the Earth, next January at the Sheldon
Concert Hall as part of their long running Notes from
Home series. More details soon, but please mark your calendars
for January 12, 2010 and join us for a evening full of fine
acoustic music!
We
hope to see you all soon!
