It's
with mixed emotions that Prairie Soul anticipates our January
12 performance at the Sheldon
Concert Hall as part of the Notes from Home concert
series with our friends, Salt
of the Earth. We're thrilled beyond measure to play what's
been hailed as one of the best acoustic music venues in the
nation, but we're pained by the news that this performance
will mark the end of an era for the band.
Linda,
one of our principle vocalists and bassist, will be leaving
Prairie Soul after the Sheldon performance. Facing what
we all recognize as the mammoth task of balancing life, family,
work and music, she's decided that exiting the band is in
the best interest of her and her family. Though we certainly
see the wisdom in her decision, the three years of music and
memories we've shared with Linda make it more than a little
difficult to let her go. We won't be standing beside her onstage
for long, but we stand behind her in her decision and wish
Linda the absolute best personally, professionally and musically.
But
before goodbyes are in order, Prairie Soul has a little more
business to take care of:
On
Friday, December 4, we're returning to Thurman
Grill and Provisions to play some familiar favorites as
well as a few tunes that we're learning for the big Sheldon
gig. The music will start around 8:00 p.m., but the Tower
Grove hot spot fills up fast, so you'll want to show up early,
grab a booth and a beer and maybe have dinner, too. We'll
see you there!
For
the record, Linda's imminent departure doesn't spell the end
of Prairie Soul. The three remaining members are looking for
a bass player to join us for what we hope will be years of
acoustic bliss.
With
the holidays at hand, be sure to pencil in Prairie Soul's
final two performances in our current lineup before the
hustle and bustle of the season begins! Happy Thanksgiving!
