The
holidays may mean a break from gigging, but Prairie Soul is
staying busy with rehearsals, auditions and more. We're polishing
up several brand-new tunes to debut at the Sheldon's Notes
from Home series with Salt
of the Earth on Tuesday, January 12. Thanks to a spruced-up
set list and the Sheldon's renowned acoustics, we're guaranteeing
that this performance will be anything but a typical show.
And of course, as Linda's final gig with Prairie Soul,
the Sheldon performance will mark the end of an era. Simply
put, it's a gig you won't want to miss.
Linda's
departure leaves some pretty big shoes to fill, and the band
is currently in the middle of auditioning upright bassists
and vocalists who can help us define the new Prairie Soul
sound. We're looking to refocus our energy and reorganize
our set list to prioritize bluegrass, newgrass and swing,
and the newest member of the group will play an important
role in the transition.
So
far, we've been blown away by the talent and professionalism
of the players and singers we've auditioned. We're looking
forward to making our final decision soon, and our new bassist
will be with us for our March 19th return to the Third
Degree Glass Factory for their Third Friday Open House.
Until
then, it's worth remembering that the Prairie Soul calendar
fills up fast, so now's the time to contact us if you're looking
to book Prairie Soul for a private or public event in the
spring or summer of 2010. We're looking forward to returning
to many of our familiar haunts as spring arrives and hope
to see equally familiar faces!
Have
a safe and happy holiday season!
